How to check Freon in commercial refrigerators?

Freon is an important catalyst for commercial refrigeration. When a refrigerator that has been used for a long time does not cool, it means that there is a problem of insufficient Freon, at least 80% of which is such a problem. As a non-professional, how to check, this article will take you to learn more.

First, observe the cooling effect

The refrigerator is divided into a refrigeration area and a freezing area. The refrigeration temperature is 2-8 degrees Celsius, while the freezing area can reach below -18 degrees Celsius. By repeated measurement with a thermometer, accurate data can be obtained to judge. If the normal refrigeration or freezing temperature is not reached, the refrigeration effect is poor, and the lack of Freon cannot be ruled out.

Second, see if the evaporator is frosted

We will find that the refrigerator evaporator in normal use will form frost, but if you only see a small amount of frost or no frost at all, there is an 80% chance that it is fluoride-free, because the evaporator installation location is usually close to the freezing area, which is why this is judged.

Third, explore through the detector

The use of a detector can also check the Freon in the refrigerator, which is generally used to check whether there is a leakage problem. If the leakage is small, it can be checked out. If there is no leakage, it cannot be checked out. There are two kinds of situations. One is the common high-power load operation, which is completely consumed, and the other is that the Freon leaks completely.

Through professional knowledge analysis, stress testing can be carried out for R134a refrigerant. If the low pressure in a normal operating refrigerator is around 0.8-1.0 MPa and the high pressure is around 1.0-1.2 MPa, this range can be queried. The pressure is significantly lower than these normal ranges, which may indicate insufficient Freon or leakage. Of course, checking these requires professional pressure measurement tools. If you do not have professional knowledge, please do not test blindly.

No matter whether it is a commercial or household freezer or refrigerator, following the steps of one look, two looks, and three probes, you can basically check for different types of Freon problems. Please note that Freon leakage has a great impact. If you do not have enough ability to check, you can seek help from a professional.
